We’re all set for the 2017 course, but we are missing one key item: the location where it’ll all take place. This means we’re officially on the look-out for a venue in Berlin. We need a space that can accommodate up to 15 students comfortably for four weeks, with daily access to the studio area. Any sort of venue could be suitable – a private studio space or a classroom in a university. We’re open to partnering with other institutions, schools, and individuals to make the course a reality. So, dear design community, any leads or ideas are welcome! Just drop us a line at

What is the vision again?
Berlin is one of the most exciting cities for type and lettering in the world. The Berlin Type School is a team of designers behind a planned series of type design events. We also collaborate with other organizations in the city. During the summer of 2017, the Berlin Type School will bring an intensive multi-week international type design program to Germany. Conducted by experienced locals and designers from abroad, our course tailors to designers, programmers as well as students hungry to learn about how type works from the inside out. Analog and digital approaches to design will be explored, hands on, and seasoned professionals will carry on guest critiques. Several short workshops will augment the program, and a lecture series will be free to the general public. Classes will be conducted in English, and we are happy to welcome applicants from around the world. Our call for applications will be published in early 2017.
